What are different types of trauma? Trauma can come in many shapes, sizes, and forms. It could be from abuse, domestic violence, developmental trauma, neglect, natural disasters, war, divorce, religious trauma, death, etc.

How long does a therapy session last? A therapy session is usually between 45-55 minutes.
What is the duration of therapy? The therapy process is tailored for each client; therefore, the duration depends on each client, the circumstances, therapy goals, etc. If one files insurance, this can also dictate the duration of time.

What happens in the first session? The first session allows me to get to know you better, so I will be completing an intake to learn all about you while also explaining services that I can offer. The intake/initial session takes longer than other sessions and will be about 90 minutes.

Do I need to provide any paperwork for the initial session? Yes, please provide a list of psychotropic medications you may be taking and custody/guardianship paperwork for a child if relevant. You can also include past mental health paperwork/diagnoses if possible.
What age can a child consent to medical/mental health treatment? 14 years of age (Alabama Code Section 22-8-4)

1. Introduction
These Terms of Service (TOS) outline the agreement between Nurturing Hope and you (“Client”) regarding therapy services. By engaging in therapy sessions, you agree to these terms.
2. Services Provided
We provide the following services:
• In-Person Therapy: Sessions conducted at 26 W 2nd Street Suite 1 Sylacauga, AL 35150.
• Online Therapy (Telehealth): Sessions conducted via Doxy.me. A stable internet connection and a private space are required for confidentiality.
3. Client Eligibility
• You must be at least 18 years old.
• Minors must have written consent from a parent or legal guardian.
• Clients must reside in Alabama for therapy services.
4. Confidentiality
• Confidentiality: Information disclosed during therapy sessions is confidential and will not be shared without written consent, except:
• If you are at risk of harming yourself or others.
• In cases of suspected child, elder, or dependent abuse.
• If legally required by a court order or subpoena.
• For online therapy, we use encrypted, secure platforms to protect your privacy.
5. Appointments and Cancellation Policy
• Sessions: Each session lasts approximately 50-60 minutes.
• Cancellations/Rescheduling: Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations.
• Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a full session fee.
• Missed appointments without notice are subject to the full session fee.
6. Fees and Payment
• Payment is due at the time of service (in-person) or prior to sessions (online).
• Accepted payment methods include cash, credit card.
• Sliding scale fees are available upon discussion (if applicable).
7. Online Therapy Policies
• Technology Requirements: A device with a camera, microphone, and secure internet connection.
• Session Disruptions: If a session is interrupted due to technical issues, the session will be rescheduled at no extra cost.
• Environment: You agree to attend online sessions in a private, quiet, and safe space to ensure confidentiality.
8. Emergencies
• Therapy is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis or require immediate support, contact emergency services (e.g., calling 911, the National Suicide Hotline at 988, or Crisis Text Line by texting HOME to 741741).
9. Termination of Services
Either party may terminate services at any time. If services are terminated, the therapist may provide referrals to other providers for continuity of care.
10. Informed Consent
By agreeing to these terms, you consent to participate in therapy services, understanding the nature of the therapeutic process and potential risks/benefits.
