Nurturing Hope currently offers professional counseling to adults, children, & families in Sylacauga and the surrounding areas. Nurturing Hope was created out of a desire to foster hope for others while understanding this often needs to be nurtured/stimulated by an outside person who appreciates the uniqueness of each person-this is the heart of Nurturing Hope. It offers a place of refuge through counseling by helping people make sense of what is going on in their lives and encouraging positive lifelong changes.

MEET ASHLYNN:
Welcome! If we were face-to-face, I would offer you something to drink, but until then, I hope you have found a moment of peace to peruse my site. I am thrilled that you have stopped by to learn more about the services I'm currently offering.
I enjoy meeting new clients and their families and become fascinated with learning & understanding others because each person has his/her own unique story. I always consider myself fortunate to be invited into someone's life or family. I enjoy the process of connecting with my clients, and I believe this to be an igniting factor in the therapy process. Clients have taught me so many invaluable things that have been a huge part of my journey in serving others. I do take an active approach to therapy, rather than passive, to ensure that we are marching towards the goal(s) you have set in therapy-because your time is precious.
I started Nurturing Hope to become a point of hope in the local community to help with the brokenness I have seen as a clinician and wanting to provide some hope and resolution. What a gift, it is for me, to serve the community in this capacity. I want people to feel understood; I believe this is the foundation to actively nurturing hope.
I am happy to also provide Christian counseling for those inclined to incorporate Biblical principles throughout therapy .
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University; I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have several years of clinical, supervised experience working with adults, children, and families. I also have served as an advocate for children. As a therapist who offers Christian counseling, I believe that ultimate healing comes from God, and I am only a vessel to help others through counseling practices. With that being said (or written), I integrate several evidence-based practices into my work based on each client's needs. I have received training in the following:
-
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
-
Play Therapy
-
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
I am married to my husband Lesley; we have two cats & one dog. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, baking, frequenting antique stores, and game nights.
